Hey, I’m Angie

the founder and creative behind MonkeyTree Media.

After working in various jobs after graduating college, I was thinking there had to be more than the 9-5 life. I studied International Commerce in University but I always had a strong interest in design. I enrolled in some online courses and booked a one way ticket to Vietnam to teach, and to see some of the world.

After meeting other creatives along the way - I decided to pair my interest in design with my business degree and go out on my own. I set up MonkeyTree Media to make that dream my full time job. I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but I also knew I had to take a risk to gain. Fast forward two years and I am helping other entrepreneurs to bring their dreams to life.

My own venture has brought me so much joy and excitement that I can’t wait to help others to do the same. I now know that authenticity and making meaningful connections are the ingredients to a great personal brand. I want to give other entrepreneurs the freedom that I have been so lucky to have myself.

What’s the story with the name?

My grandparents bought me a Monkey Tree when I was little and measured my height next to it every year as I grew older. Anyone who knows me will know that I’m miniature as f*** so I guess it was just a joke to my family. It was always the same height as me until I was about eight, when it obviously surpassed me and still stands in the garden in my parent’s house in Ireland.

MonkeyTrees are a great way to represent the fun and adventurous nature of the monkeys who chance their arm trying to climb them, and also the prickly tendencies of starting your own business. Like many brands it started with an idea, a sketch, and a mission - lending true meaning to building something out of absolutely nothing.
